Bailey Buchanan

Bailey Buchanan has a general litigation practice with a focus on commercial litigation.  She has represented clients in actions involving shareholder disputes, breaches of contract and fiduciary duties, wrongful termination, securities fraud, unfair and deceptive business practices, whistleblower actions and other disputes involving a wide variety of legal issues.  She has also represented clients in probate matters, fiduciary litigation and closed corporation disputes and buyouts.  She has experience handling all phases of litigation, as well as arbitration and mediation proceedings and has extensive experience in electronic discovery.  In recent cases, she has obtained multi-million dollar settlements for several of her clients.

Representative matters:

  • Successfully represented minority shareholders in multi-million dollar casino development dispute resulting in multi-million dollar recovery.

  • Successfully represented investors in multi-million dollar power generation plant construction and operation dispute resulting in multi-million dollar recovery.

  • Appointed Class Counsel in multi-million dollar recently certified class action lawsuit against national real estate developer.

  • Successfully represented business owners in multi-million dollar employment dispute resulting in multi-million dollar recovery.

  • Successfully represented environmental pollution whistleblowers in multi-million dollar recovery.

  • Current Class Counsel (pending) in multi-million dollar consumer class action against fortune 500 company.

  • Obtained summary judgment that her client was a whistleblower under the Massachusetts Whistleblower Act.

Bailey received a JD, cum laude, from Boston College Law School.  She received a BBA, cum laude, in Finance from University of Massachusetts at Amherst and attended the International Study Program in International Business in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1991.  Prior to attending law school, Bailey worked in the independent power business in the United States and India.  She managed the government licensing and permitting process, and initiated land acquisition for one of the first limited-recourse private power projects in India during deregulation of India's financial and fuel sectors and privatization of its power industry.  Bailey also worked as a developer in the water industry in the U.S. and as a consultant on western business practices to the leading private hospital company in India.

When not practicing law or spending time with her three sons, Bailey can be found organizing athletic events in iconic stadiums to raise money for severely injured veterans through her not-for-profit, Stairs4RTroops, Inc.; running road races to raise money for Organization for Autism Research and climbing the 48 4,000 foot mountains in New Hampshire.
